Brightly colored nightmares & love songs.

Born in 1984 and working without formal artistic training, Monitr Ghost has spent decades developing a personal visual language rooted in symbolism, numerology, memory, and intuition.

For more than twenty years, ghosts have appeared throughout the work—not as supernatural figures, but as witnesses, companions, memories, and reminders of the things that remain unseen. Alongside recurring motifs such as eyes, tears, crowns, skulls, birds, flowers, and fragmented text, these symbols form an evolving mythology that stretches across paintings created years apart.

Most paintings begin without a plan. Images emerge through a stream-of-consciousness process where meaning is discovered rather than imposed. Layers of paint, collage, symbols, and mark-making accumulate into works that balance beauty with unease, humor with grief, and chaos with wonder.

Having long felt like an outsider, the artist approaches painting as a form of observation. The name Monitr Ghost reflects the role of a silent witness—collecting fragments of experience and translating them into visual form.

More paintings have been given away than sold. For Monitr Ghost, art is ultimately about connection: creating images that invite viewers to find their own meaning among symbols, memories, and dreams.
